Here we are back again in mid-January 2024 and we are already seeing some improvement in market conditions with good positive press today regarding prices, the holiday break as always sees a marked increase in online traffic especially Rightmove with the number of buyers contacting estate agents about homes for sale nearly quadrupling (+273%) from Christmas Day, and 17% higher than Boxing Day last year. This has led to more buyers registering and more viewings booked, we have subsequently just agreed our first sale of the year in Steyning Road which was marketed at £575,000 alongside Lenham Road East which was sale agreed in late December and had an asking price of one million pounds.
There are lots of positives to consider for the year ahead with mortgage lenders battling already for business with reduced rates for new and existing mortgages, First Direct announced from 5th January a sub 4% repayment mortgage, this will continue as we move into the year and can only be good for buyers and sellers alike and we await news from the bank of England as always with bated breath.
